Maire O'Donnell Ladies' Matchplay
COMPETITION RULES
1. The competition is open to all clubs in Co. Donegal.
2. Each team will consist of 10 players holding valid (fully developed) Golf Ireland handicaps who are members of their club
(any membership category).
No player may represent more than one club.
3. The format is; Fourball match play HOME AND AWAY knockout. Each team must field their
players in ascending order of handicap index. Maximum individual playing
handicap is 40, a player of a higher handicap may play but they will be capped at 40. In the event of a tie, holes up to count. Record the actual
result including holes up.
4. Team sheet MUST be accompanied by official Golf Ireland Team Report
Sheet to exchange.
5. In the event of a draw after the second leg is played, the first pairing will go
out and play until a hole is won outright (sudden death).
6. Caddies are not permitted in this competition.
7. In all circumstances R&A rules of golf apply. Shot allocation as per R&A Handicap Allowance Guidelines - Appendix C (9/10 th allowance). It is the responsibility of the team captain to report each match result to the secretary within two days.
8. The result of each match leg must be recorded on the result sheet & signed by both team Captains.
COMPETITION GUIDELINES
1. An entry fee of 50 euro per club to be paid before play. Cheques
should be made payable to the Maire O’Donnell Interclub
Championship. Post to Tracy Spence, 3 Kiltoy Court, Letterkenny,
Co Donegal.

2. Team captains should make contact with the opposing team captain
as soon as possible to arrange the match.
3. A minimum of two dates including at least one week-end date
should be provided for each match.
4. No extensions will be allowed unless the course is closed.
5. Teams are expected to pay for their own meals.
6. It is recommended that leg 1 matches should be played in the first
two weeks of the month.
7. Complimentary practice rounds should be offered on a reciprocal
basis to a maximum of ten team members & two subs. Team
captains must agree arrangements before the first leg.
8. Team Captains reaching the final need to notify the committee of
when & where the final match will be played once confirmed in
order to arrange trophy presentation.
9. Club hosting the final should extend dining invitation to committee
member/members presenting the trophy on the day.
